Maple Ave Vacant House Fire
![]() At the stroke of midnight on Monday June 7, there was report of a possible house fire. A fully involved house fire was visible upon arrival of first due Hempstead Chief 81. A working fire was immediately transmitted. The initial house involved was so overwhelmed with fire that an outside operation was put into place. As Truck 1’s tower ladder was attempting to extinguish the initial fire from their bucket, the heat and flames caused a tree and a vacant adjacent house to erupt into flames. The primary house collapsed due the intense heat and fire. The vacant adjacent house was able to be extinguished by attack lines. South Hempstead, Uniondale, West Hempstead, and Roosevelt fire departments were called in for assistance. Fire department units were on scene for about two hours to completely extinguish the fires. ![]() ![]() See more pictures in the Gallery |
