The Hempstead Volunteer Fire Department is looking for residents of the Village of Hempstead to become firefighters and fire-medics. There are great benefits and you are able to receive free training.

Qualifications to be considered for membership:

You must be at least 18 years of age. If you are under the age of 21 years a parents or guardians signature is required.

You must have a high school diploma or GED.

You must have a photo drivers license or photo id from The Department of Motor Vehicles with a Hempstead address on it.

Two other means of your proof of address are required. A phone, electric, cable, telephone, water, or credit card bill with your Hempstead address on it will do. A voter’s registration card is also acceptable. If you are renting, a notarized letter from your landlord is also acceptable.

You must sign a release for a police background check.

You must get eight (8) village taxpaying residents to sign your application.

You must pass a physical given by the department. This physical is given by the department doctor only. There is no cost to the applicant.
